Apatosaurus (Apatosaurus ajax)
This page features illustrations of the Apatosaurus dinosaur in various formats such as png, svg, and ai. The Apatosaurus, a herbivorous sauropod, inhabited North America during the Late Jurassic period and its fossils were unearthed in several modern-day states. Recognizable by its robust build, it had distinctive claws on its forelimbs and hindlimbs, as well as a long, whip-like tail held aloft while moving. The dinosaur's moniker, translating to "deceptive lizard," stems from differences in its chevron bones, a discovery attributed to Othniel Charles Marsh in 1877 despite initial uncovering by Edward Drinker Cope.
